I realize this challenge is to post my own thoughts this month, but my daughter, Candeus Cooper McDowall actually says it better than I ever could in her blog named, Bird Uncaged.

Dear Terrorists,

I don’t know who you are. I don’t know where you live, or how you grew up. I do know that that is an awful lot of hate to carry around, in order for you to do what you do. I cannot imagine, nor do I want to.

I also know that whatever your intentions are, they are not working.

Too often now, we have suffered tragedy. And each time the alerts scroll across the news, each time our phones ring and our text messages chime and our hearts sink waiting for news of loved ones, we do the opposite of what you intend. We come together.

Each time you try to break us down, we pull each other up. MORE people rush INTO the chaos in order to help those they don’t even know. More people flood the blood banks. More people send money for victim relief…
