Yesterday I was delighted to attend a play with two of my dear friends. We saw The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. This satire set in the Edwardian London era is timeless. How comical that one hundred years after his death, Oscar Wild’s messages still ring true. As human beings, we are caught in the trap of making the appearance of doing what is expected —regardless of how we feel. The calamity of mistruths in this play struck me as so poignant today.
Have you been manipulated by society to “do what is right” when under your breath you are cursing the very action that you are taking? Have you read Oscar Wilde? Do you think he is still relevant today?
